Judith Gold is a noted reading and literacy specialist whose roots are in the classroom where she taught 6 and 7 year olds and served as the coordinator of the Middle School at the famed Bank Street College of Education in New York City. At Bank Street, she was a professor and program developer. In addition to teaching graduate courses, she directed two National Service Projects and worked to help schools and districts create integrated literacy and social studies curricula. Judith has designed and delivered many professional development programs and has also served as a consultant to NGOs for education projects and teacher training in Central, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa. Recently, she has worked with directors, team leaders and teachers on program assessment and implementing curriculum change in a Banks Street-inspired school in Kathmandu, Nepal. Judith’s first year undergraduate students find inspiration in Promoting Young Children’s Language Acquisition and Development and Promoting Literacy for Young Children in a Multilingual Society. While she is in Singapore in the early part of 2012, Judith will be working with our partner, Care Corner, on professional development around literacy training.
