Letter: Wheelock joins forces with Boston University to form lasting partnership in education, human development

An open letter to the Wheelock College-Singapore community:

I am eager to share with you how thrilled we are over the joining of forces between Wheelock College and Boston University. It is an ideal linking of the Wheelock College commitment to teaching and social justice, and the academic resources, traditions, and reputation of one of the flagship universities in the US.

As announced by Wheelock President David Chard, Wheelock and Boston University have entered into an agreement that, pending the necessary regulatory approvals, will form a merger as of June 1, 2018.

The result will be the new Wheelock College of Education and Human Development (WCEHD) as an academic unit within Boston University. The WCEHD will aspire to be the preeminent college of education and human development in the region and in the U.S. within 10 years, focused on clinical practice, scholarship, and community engagement.

Here in Singapore, we greet the news of the merger with excitement and anticipation for the new opportunities and possibilities for the Wheelock family in Singapore. The Wheelock community now teams up with an even bigger family as we continue on our institutional mission of improving the lives of children and families.
